The Studio is a Grade II listed building in the Conservation area of Mapledurham. Built in 1625 it was completely rebuilt for us by the Timber Frame expert Dan Miles in August 2005
The Studio during rebuilding
There are two floors. On the ground floor is the 'conservatory' - which has windows on two sides. This is where we paint.
The top floor has our 'lounge' area and a gallery of painting and prints.
Every student has their own Professional easel and Hi Stool. All materials are included. You can take breaks and read the Art magazines upstairs or just sit in the lounge and have a drink.
We have all the equipment you need
"I have to say - NOBODY does it better! Great environment, excellent materials, I was like a kid in a candy shop - so relaxed but just right for learning and Caroline is the BEST! She gave her all and her all is JUST PERFECT! Sue - August 2007
'SO loved the week-end. After a nights sleep I'm brimming with enthusiasm and
good intentions. You were wonderful; you provided us with an instinctive
balance of constructive support, encouragement and space to get on
uninterrupted. Thank you. It's not difficult to see why people return to you
again and again' - Max - August 2007
You really are an excellent teacher...allowing each member in the
group to develop individual style, sharing your time equally between all of
us ( no favourites, very important!) In fact, you were really like some kind
of super painting angel flitting between us all offering advice and making
suggestions, lifting flagging spirits as we all wrestled with this desire to
create ! Thank you so much ! Rose
"Caroline is able to inspire, educate and make you relax" is what David said after an exciting weekend painting.

DIRECTIONS TO THE STUDIO
FROM THE M4
Leave the M4 at Junction 11 and
turn onto the A33 - DIRECTION READING.
You will pass the Madjeski (Football)
Stadium on your left. Keep going
straight ahead onto the Reading
Relief Road and then onto Rose Kiln
Lane (still the A33). Keep going
straight ahead onto the A329 -
Caversham Road (you are in
CAVERSHAM).
On to the A4155 and once you have
passed over the bridge - keep in
the left hand lane (past a
photographic shop on your left and
Picasso Italian restaurant) and
filter left at the traffic lights
onto the A4074. (St Peters Hill) Go
straight onto the
Woodcote Road which then turns into
Upper Woodcote Road. (Still the
A4074)
Keep going straight and past a large freestanding sign saying Maple Durham on the right hand side. Then you reach
a sign on the left hand side saying
Chazey Heath (there is also a brown
National Trust sign saying
Mapledurham House on the opposite side of the road) TURN LEFT HERE
JUST PAST THE CHAZEY HEATH SIGN and
opposite the Pack Saddle pub. It is
an unmarked country lane.
KEEP CONCENTRATING HERE!! It's very easy to miss the crossroads because it is very beautiful countryside. SO! AT THE FIRST CROSS ROADS turn left - direction Mapledurham and Mapledurham House.
This is a single, very beautiful country lane. It twists and turns and there are often bunny rabbit skipping across the road and the odd deer. There are usually sheep, cows and horses in the fields.
Keep going straight on, past 'Paintball'. There are a couple
of a sharp bends to the left - keep
going straight ahead. (don’t worry you
are not lost!). (The end of this road is a dead end and Mapledurham House - so you can not get lost as there is only one destination). We are a few steps away from the entrance to Mapledurham House.
When you enter the village, there are some houses with a red letter box on the wall
on the left hand side. Keep going a
very short way and there are a row
of ‘Alms Houses’ on the right - we
are opposite. Large gravel car park.
There is a small acrylic sign on the right hand pillar of the entrance saying 'JoeDaisy Studio'. You will see the large gravel car park and 'Daisy' our life size fibre glass cow.
WELCOME - you have arrived. Come and have a cup of tea or coffee in the lounge and marvel at your low pulse rate - reduced by the fantastic countryside and warm welcome from JoeDaisy Studio.
If you do get lost just telephone 0118 9724502 and we will send someone to guide you in. AND remember we will always pick you up from Reading Station.
DO NOT USE THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE AA WEB SITE - THEY ARE WRONG we have told the AA lots of times - but they don't change it - very annoying for the unfortunate people who end up in Purley!
Tel: 07966 843246 if you get lost! And we will send someone to guide you in.
