1. Why are your courses different from anyone else?

We don't know of any provider in Spain who has a Professional Art Studio in which to paint as well as on location. Because we have a lovely cool studio you can paint ALL DAY - most providers give you just 3 hours a day - because they do not have a cool studio!.

2. Are all the materials provided?

Yes they are! And they are all Professional materials. Top quality studio easels, top quality field easels. The best professional brushes and the best professional paints. All your canvases, paper etc are included. Our tutors are professional painters and only use the best of everything. So you do too!

Everyone has their own space with a painting table, easel & high stool. When we go on location everyone has their own chair and field easel.

3. What courses do you offer?

Painting Days - click - which means you can come on any day. You can come and just paint or have tuition.

Painting Weekends - click - There are four Painting Weekend courses, Stage 1 - Stage 2 and Stage 3 and also a watercolour weekend.

Painting Weeks - click - Painting weeks are five FULL days painting and six nights accommodation.

4. Where is the accommodation for a painting week or weekend?

Our accommodation is self catering and is located in the main Monda square. A short walk from the Studios. You can admire the architecture of Monda as you walk to the Studio - soak up the sun and just relax!

5. What meals are included on a Painting Week?

We supply a hamper with the basics - bread, butter, cheese, ham, tea, cofee, biscuits, water, milk and sugar. So when you arrive you can make a cup of tea etc. There is a brilliant bakery opposite the apartments where you can buy fresh bread for breakfast and cakes for later!

Lunch is included every day - usually a buffet in the Studio.

Evening meal is up to you. We give you a list of all the restaurants in Monda (they are all fab) - some have Tapas or Racciones (large tapas) and some have English style meals but with a Spanish flavour. Or you can just cook in your apartment.

There is a great terrace and a small pool.

6. What happens if I come alone?

We go out in the evening with you - if you want us to - but usually the group bond really well and they all go out together.

7. I want to bring my partner or a friend who does not want to paint.

That's fine, we can acccomodate non painting partners. It's just the cost of the accommodation.

8. Can you tell me what to do in Monda and surrounding areas?

Yes, of course. In your apartment is a list of attractions near by and there will be a list on this web site shortly. We are only 15-20 minutes from Marbella and beaches. Fuengirola (45 minutes) is nearby.

9. Will you pick me up from the airport?

The airport to arrive to is Malaga - click flights We will pick up on a Sunday between 4-6pm and take you back to the airport on Saturday between 10-12am. If you arrive outside of these hours there is a shuttle bus between Malaga and Marbella. We can usually pick you up from Marbella. (Subject to availability)

10. I am hiring a car. Is there anywhere to park?

Monda is a beautiful small white village with tight streets. There is parking outside the apartments and outside the Studio. We can help you navigate!

11. Why did you chose Monda to set up your Spanish Studio?

We looked at everywhere in Andalucia and when we got to Monda we had goosebumps and knew this was the place. It's very beautiful - it's real Spain - everyone is lovely and says Buenos dias. It's a Spanish speaking place and they appreciate you trying to use the language.

12. I've been to JoeDaisy UK a number of times - will the teaching, friendliness and materials be the same?

Sorry didn't mean to show off but we do have a great reputation in the UK and we will maintain this in Spain. Alex who used to be in the UK is running the Spanish Studio - so he will be a very friendly face(!) and we think we know how to offer great service, great teaching and we know our generosity is huge(!) Caroline (master painter - click) will be taking some courses in Spain but Ruth and Lesley and Alex will also be there to give you the same excellence of teaching and service.

The materials are nearly the same - the brushes are DaVinci for oils and acrylic and hair brushes for watercolour. The professional paints are the same - the canvas are different and are supplied in Spain but we think they are even better than the ones we use in the UK.

13. How do I get my paintings home?

If you paint on smallish canvases they usually fit into your suitcase OR you can take the canvas off the stretcher and take it back dismantled. We can courier but you have to realise this is quite a large cost.

OR EVEN MORE EXCITING IS THAT YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR PAINTINGS FOR SALE IN THE GALLERY - IF YOU WANT TO. We want to build up the Gallery into a major Gallery - this will take time but it is something we have plans for.

14. What do I wear?

Casual clothing. Monda is a casual place, but the locals always look casually smart and dressed for the weather. You need sandals and cotton clothing for May to September. Trainers (or similar October to April) and warmer clothing. Bring layers - a cardigan and jim jams for the cooler months.

We have aprons in the Studio.

15. Supposing I am ill when I am there?

Make sure you have insurance. We will always try and help and take you to a dentist or doctor. Ruth has lived in Spain for 6 years - so we can speak the language and help you at all times.

16. Supposing something else happens?

It's not very likely but we did have someone who lost their luggage by Easyjet - we took her to a shopping centre to get some clothes and then sorted out Easyjet to find her suitcase. It did arrive a couple of days later.
