TYPICAL PROGRAMME
SATURDAY (All times are approximate)
Arrive 9.30-9.45am Get together in our upstairs lounge, meet your fellow artists. Have a cup of tea or coffee, or water or even wine!!
10.0am Your tutor explains the course and introduces you to the Studio. No-one lives here, (although it looks like a beautiful house!) it is just a studio and is your "home" for the weekend. So relax and enjoy!
10.10am Choose your place in the painting studio. Every place is the same, with professional paints, brushes etc. Everyone has their own professional easel, painting table and high stool. Your tutor explains which are the best products to use and tells you why.
10.15am We start by understanding what is an abstract. There are lots of different ways to create an abstract. We are working from the line and form of landscape - which could/can create anything!! Don't worry your tutor talks you through everything very carefully.
You create 3 small paintings today - each one should be developing your sense of abstract - that is each painting develops from the last - creating more stronger abstract. Your tutor talks you through everything.
Everyone works at their own pace and each student is encouraged to paint their own way. (We do NOT teach you to paint like us!! But just show your professional techniques)
We are not here to "Judge" you - just to help you create a professional painting!
12.15am Critique your paintings - time to go ooooh, aaaaaah again!!
12.30pm LUNCH In the upstairs lounge or outside on a good day. We provide a lovely fresh buffet with fresh food, meats and cheeses, salads etc. We are suitable for vegetarians but if you have a special diet, let us know. Tea, coffe, water, soft drinks, red and white wine are available.
1.0pm We talk about your strengths. Based on what you achieved this morning, we understand what your strengths are - could be strength of line, strength of colour, strength of brush marks etc etc
4.0-4.30pm Day ends. We send you off with a bit of homework
SUNDAY - 2ND DAY

A large abstract painting today. Which you can only start after we have talked about what you are going to achieve and how you have achieved your inspiration and vision.
12.0-12.30pm LUNCH In the upstairs lounge or outside on a good day. We provide a lovely fresh buffet with fresh food, meats and cheeses, salads etc. We are suitable for vegetarians but if you have a special diet, let us know. Tea, coffe, water, soft drinks, red and white wine are available.
1.0pm Back to painting
3.15pm Day ends
Day ends. Time to collect your paintings and say goodbye (very sad) but most people come back again and again!
Quite a demanding weekend this - but fun! Abstraction is so much about YOU - you must really think about what you are going to achieve and how to achieve it. Our lovely "senior citizen" returner stated that only after this weekend and having been painting for many, many years, has she achieved a painting she could be proud of and call her own!. She was, naturally, thrilled! Your tutor does not impose his/her will on you but encourages you to paint "LIKE YOU" with enjoyment, encouragement and in a relaxed, friendly environment. This should be start of you thinking like an "abstract" artist and creating a series or works.
WE REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU!!!!! |
